Church Revitalized with Contemporary Aesthetic from Variety of Durable Metal Sales™ Panels

Metal Exterior Matches Modern Spirit of Grace Place Church in Colorado

The new Grace Place Church in Berthoud, CO shows off nearly 30,000 total square feet of wall, roof, and soffit panels from Metal Sales Manufacturing Corporation.
Grace Place Church is not your average church. It offers live concert performances, retreats and special worship just for kids. In order to make this sanctuary as contemporary as the organization itself, the church needed authentic materials that would match its mission. Enter Metal Sales™, providing thousands of feet of durable, sleek, and 100% recyclable metal panels. The versatile panels create a vibrant and welcoming aesthetic for Grace Place.
“We chose Metal Sales panels for a variety of reasons,” says Mike Vander Ploeg, Studio Director for Visioneering Studios, the architect of the project. “Not only did the panels provide us with great value, but they also served as a blank canvas for us to incorporate unique architectural features into Grace Place Church.”
Once spread out between four industrial buildings with only 300 seats for worshippers to squeeze into, Grace Place with the help of Metal Sales, has reached its full glory under one roof with an expanded 700-seat auditorium. The new Grace Place Church sits majestically on a 19-acre site complete with the new auditorium. A classic local restaurant, called Trailhead Café, was conveniently relocated to serve residents. Roll-up doors and expansive windows provide views of the Rocky Mountains.
The exterior of the large auditorium in Grace Place is clad with 12,000 square feet of 7/8” Corrugated 22 gauge Terra Cotta exterior wall panels from Metal Sales. The deep reddish brown color complements the exterior cladding of the entrance. More than 3,000 square feet of Metal Sales PBR-Panel 24 gauge champagne metallic panels adorn the front of the church and provide a pleasing backdrop for its sign.
The Grace Place Church roof features more than 13,000 square feet of Magna-Loc 24 gauge roof panels in Ash Gray. Metal Sales 24 gauge Soffit panels match the roof’s color, tying the polished look of the church together.
The impressive variety of Metal Sales panels available for the design of Grace Place, along with the company’s nationwide network of branches, made Metal Sales the ideal partner.
“In a business where time is money, location of product is paramount,” says Abe Johnson, Owner and President of Big Johnson Construction, the metal building erector for the project. “Metal Sales products perform very well and are available locally, which greatly expedited the completion of this project.”
In 1963, Metal Sales started as an agricultural-based company. Today, the company manufactures products for a wide variety of industries and serves the commercial, architectural, residential, and agricultural markets.
“We thought that Metal Sales’ background lent itself very well to this project in rural Colorado,” adds Vander Ploeg. “As a result, we are very happy with the finished product and the building is already well-known and highly regarded by the community.”
Grace Place Church was completed in October 2015. The project team included architect Visioneering Studios, Irvine, CA; general contractor Fransen Pittman General Contractors, Englewood, CO; metal building erector Big Johnson Construction, Fort Morgan, CO; and steel supplier B&C Steel, Gering, NE.

Metal Sales™ Unveils New Standing Seam Roof System

T-Armor Series™ Adds Performance, Installation Ease and Design Flexibility to New or Existing Roofs

LOUISVILLE, KY…Metal Sales Manufacturing Corporation, the nation’s leader in metal roof and wall systems, introduces its newest product offering: the T-Armor Series™ Structural Standing Seam Roof System.

The T-Armor Series uses Metal Sales’ concealed clip design to allow for a sustainable, cost-effective and practical roofing panel system for new construction or retrofit. To achieve this level of performance, Metal Sales has implemented its unique sealed seam cap into the T-Armor Series. The sealed seam cap design has several advantages over the standard interlocking leg system, allowing for multi-directional panel installation, simple replacement of a damaged panel and provides superior weather tightness.

The T-Armor Series also offers an optional continuous concealed clip, specifically designed for roofs that are frequently exposed to high winds and heavy environmental loads. The clip can extend the full length of the panel or may be used only on specific areas of the roof. The continuous clip design creates an increased area of contact for panel-to-clip engagement, allowing the roof system to bear heavier loads and strengthen its wind uplift resistance. This clip design also allows for complete thermal expansion and contraction of roofing panels reducing risk of oil canning, and giving the system a tight weather seal that lasts for several decades.

Jim Beam® American Stillhouse Wrapped in Metal Sales™

Metal Roof and Wall Panels Help Achieve LEED® Gold Certification

LOUISVILLE, KY… Metal Sales™ metal roof and wall panels outfit the LEED® Gold certified Jim Beam American Stillhouse and Distillery in Clermont, KY. The Stillhouse showcases Jim Beam’s bourbon-making process by hosting tours in a sustainable and visually appealing facility.

The facility’s design unites Jim Beam’s family tradition, company history and commitment to sustainability with more than 31,000 square feet of Metal Sales products.

“The metal wall and roof panels gave us the look we wanted for the Stillhouse,” said Clark Barnette, AIA at Barnette Bagely Architects who served as architects of the Stillhouse. “There are several traditional rickhouses on the property and the corrugated panels allowed us to match the existing buildings.”

The LEED Gold project project recycled 25% of building materials and diverted more than 80% of the construction materials from landfills. Other sustainable features include occupancy sensors and control panels with built-in timers to regulate lighting throughout the facility to save energy. Low-flow water fixtures reduce water usage by 50% annually in the Stillhouse.

“Metal roof and wall panels are great building materials,” says Barnette. “They offer supreme durability, a unique look and are sustainable thanks to their recyclability.”
